Labor’s ‘Win for the Ages’

ARTICLE: LABOR’S ‘WIN FOR THE AGES’

Labor’s win at the 2025 Federal election was a ‘win for the ages’ as declared by the Guardian and a ‘landslide victory’ by many other media outlets.

Remarkably, Labor increased its representation in Parliament, which is opposite to all first-term Governments of the past 50 years.  

Labor won 94 of 150 seats in the House of Representatives, or 62.7%; the highest percentage since 1996.

The more I see of the political parties, the more I believe that they are at the heart of the problem that we have politically in Australia. Political parties stifle excellence and limit the true expression of candidates.

A coalition of Independents may be a way forward. But at this point, the theory needs to be tested in practice, and Matthew and Ben are the guinea pigs. We will have plenty of time to review the drawing board after the election on May 3.
