The election is finally over and for a lot of you, you deserve a well earned break.

It certainly was not the result many of us were hoping for, with few silver linings. Instead of good people elected, the silver linings were the bad apples who lost their seats.

Based on current counting, it looks like Teal Zoe Daniel has lost in Goldstein - despite claiming victory on election night. It also looks like Greens leader Adam Bandt will lose his seat of Melbourne.

For me, despite the result, I feel we must not be deterred.

Despite who is in Government, or which party is dominant, the people of Australia can still achieve results.

That is the aim of Australians for Better Government.

No longer can we rely on politicians or political parties to drive much needed change in this Country. We need a movement of Australians to drive that change.

We have an event coming up on Sunday, May 25 at the Warrawee Club in Warrawee. We will have the Hon. John Ruddick and Darren De Bortoli from De Bortoli wines to speak, along with Kevin Loughrey.

This will be an important next step in beginning the discussion on the political reforms we want to see take place in Australia.

I hope you all can make it. For tickets, please visit: abgfundraiser.eventbrite.com

Until next week, stay active and never back down!

Many thanks,

Steven Tripp

Of course we had to do an in-depth analysis of the election results on the night after the election.

I joined Councillor Adam Zahra and Sam Buono in breaking down the results of the House of Representatives and the Senate - focusing on the most interesting seats in the contest. Check it out!

For anyone who missed it, you can watch back the footage of the North Shore Community Candidate Forum, which was held on the Sunday before the election.

It included some great candidates from Bradfield, Mackellar and Warringah, including some of the NSW Senate candidates including Warwick Stacey, Craig Kelly, Lyle Shelton, Steve Christou and Silvana Nile.

In this article I detail the factional infighting that has torn the Liberal Party apart - to the point that many good ex-Liberals are now in other parties and the only ones left are Liberals in name only.
